Hello World,

Last Sunday I was enjoying my cottage vacation in Southampton, Ontario eating my breakfast bagel and looking out at lake Huron when all of a sudden I hear Justin Trudeau in the background making an announcement. Those words instantly took my mind off the calmness of the lake the family time with my children and the vacation in general. I couldn’t believe it. I know there had been a lot of talk about a snap election but I kept telling myself “there is no way he’s going to call it in the middle of all this mess”. Not to mention the mess he still has to clean up for himself and the Liberal party in general. Needless to say, I was not impressed at all and for me, this was the last nail.

So what am I going to do about it? Well, anything I can! Looking at the various parties over the years and calling around, discussing with friends and family, I realized there were, at the time, no declared candidates for my riding or neighbouring ridings yet. This prompted me to ask myself, “Is it time to jump in? Is it time to do my part?”. After reaching out to a past candidate in my area I was asked to jump in by local leadership. So, this is happening. I am going to take the leap into a public role on behalf of my family, community, country and planet.

I guess you could say I heard “the call” and as of yesterday, I’m happy to announce that I am now the 2021 Green Party of Canada Candidate for the riding of Oakville North – Burlington. I know I’m coming into this race over a week late but that is OK. It will not deter me I hope it does not deter you. I do this not because it’s easy or hard but because it is the right thing to do. I am ready to serve you and I hope I can count on your support.

Over the next few days, I will be assembling a team and ramping up a campaign. We are in a crunch, so NOW is the time to do your part and join me and the Green Party. We need all hands on deck if we are going to rival the Liberals or the Conservatives. Our communities, country and planet need us now to do the right thing and I believe with your help we will get there. Good luck to my opponents in this political election who have stepped up to represent their parties. It is not easy to make this choice and you have my respect. I look forward to meeting with each of you on the campaign trail and debates. It is my hope to connect every voter in the riding over the next 4 weeks.
